Vilim Zlender (b. 1974) is a Croatian artist who currently lives and works in Basel, Switzerland. His paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. His art, both abstract and figurative, explores intimacy in the broader context of the daily observations of nature and people. He reveals his enthusiasm and elation, but also moments of alienation and loneliness of people in a society of different standards and expectations, as well. The painting process begins with an exploration of the relationship between colour and composition, often using fingers instead of brushes, sensing the softness and bonding of pigments to the canvas.
